Tactics
The pier end fishes best two hours either side of high water and is the go-to spot for the bigger species - rays, hounds and conger on stronger gear and big baits. Black lugworm and blow lug are the standout baits for the general mixed bag, with big fish baits reserved for congers after dark. March brings the first garfish and bass, with pout, dab, flounder and plaice also on the cards.
