Upton Towans

A quieter section of Cornwall's three-mile Hayle/Gwithian dune-backed sands, part of a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest for its dune system.

Wide flat sand and extensive dunes are good for families, though it's a long walk from parking and largely unsupervised.

Fishing

Upton Towans is a clean, open surf mark best worked around shifting gutters and sandbanks on a flooding tide. Bass and flatfish are the core targets; whiting become important in colder months, with turbot and occasional summer pelagics possible in suitable conditions.
