A small, sandy-coloured bottom-dwelling fish with two dorsal fins and pelvic fins fused into a small sucker-like disc, which it uses to grip rocks and stay put in current.
Facts
- The fused pelvic-fin 'sucker' is a genuine adaptation letting gobies cling to rocks in strong current.
- Several similar goby species live around the UK coast, mostly in shallow, sandy or rocky inshore water.
- Like blennies, almost always an incidental light-tackle catch rather than a deliberate target.
