Water quality: Excellent

Lifeguard: RNLI lifeguards, Easter period + weekends April-June, then daily through peak summer

Hazards: Popular surf beach with genuine swell/current exposure; RNLI lifeguard presence in season reflects real risk, and the cliffs above are a rockfall hazard to avoid.

Dogs

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council: dogs prohibited 1 June-15 September from the small Arcadia access-point beach area eastward toward Dunluce Castle.

Family

Dramatic scenery and good surf make this popular with older kids/teens and watersports families; less sheltered and more exposed than the town beaches.

Fishing

North-coast and County Down surf beaches can support bass, flatfish, dogfish, winter whiting and occasional rays.
