Family

Large flat sandy beach with extensive parking (~150 spaces incl. disabled), toilets, shop, cafe and campsite/caravan park nearby - a well-equipped family destination.

Fishing

Polzeath is a classic surf-bass beach best fished when daytime crowds have left. Bass patrol the first breakers and gutters on a flooding tide, especially as swell drops after a blow. Clean sand can produce small-eyed or spotted rays, turbot and occasional smoothhound, while rocky fringes support wrasse, pollack, mackerel and garfish. Winter nights bring whiting and dogfish.

Species reported: Bass, Small-eyed ray, spotted ray and turbot, Smoothhound, Wrasse and pollack, Mackerel, garfish, whiting and dogfish

Crabbing

unknown — No exact low-risk hook-free line-crabbing zone was verified on the main surf beach. Rock-pool exploration should remain separate from crabbing promotion.

Access & parking

Direct beach-level parking (fee applies) with disabled bays; flat access onto the sand. Sat-nav: PL27 6UE. Get directions →
