Beach & safety

Water quality: Excellent

Lifeguard: Not lifeguarded on the open foreshore; Tinside Lido itself is a supervised pool

Hazards: Rocky, uneven foreshore; boat and ferry traffic in the Sound.

Amenities: toilets · cafe · car-park · promenade

Dogs

No Plymouth City Council PSPO document naming the Hoe foreshore specifically as a dog-restricted zone could be located. Secondary beach guides describe dogs as allowed year-round on the Hoe foreshore.

Unofficial source: View the supporting source →Not an authority; check current signage.

Family

Rocky rather than sandy foreshore; Tinside Lido nearby (open late May-early September) is the main family swimming draw, with its own lifeguard/pool safety cover.

Fishing

Plymouth Council explicitly lists fishing as a Hoe foreshore activity, but no adequate exact source was found assigning species, tactics and authorised casting positions specifically to the Hoe East bathing-water record. Keep West Hoe Pier and other Sound marks separate and never cast through the buoyed swimming area.

Crabbing

rock pooling or observation only — The Council supports searching for marine life on the pebble foreshore; no exact line-crabbing position was verified.
