Beach & safety

Water quality: Good

Lifeguard: RNLI lifeguards, Easter to end of October half-term, 10am-6pm

Hazards: Rip currents, especially around the rocks at the southern end; strong surf conditions.

Amenities: toilets · cafe · car-park · promenade

Dogs

Perranporth's town tourist-information site states dogs are allowed on the beach year-round but must be on a lead on the main beach area between 10am and 5pm during July and August, with off-lead access in the sand dunes and the remainder of the beach beyond the flat rocks. This is not from a Cornwall Council PSPO document directly, so treat it as indicative pending official confirmation; Perranzabuloe Parish Council has separately asked for a leads restriction to be considered at PSPO renewal.

Family

Huge, RNLI-lifeguarded sandy beach with full seafront amenities — one of the best family beaches on the North Cornwall coast.

Fishing

Perranporth is a moving surf fishery. Bass work gutters and white water, small-eyed rays and dogfish use the outer sand after dark, winter brings whiting, and flounder are associated with the river mouth. Fish before crowds arrive or after dark and outside flagged areas.

Species reported: Bass, Small-eyed ray and dogfish, Whiting and dab, Flounder

Crabbing

unknown — No stable family line-crabbing edge was verified on the open surf beach.

Access & parking
