Gunwalloe Cove

A sheltered, south-west-facing sandy cove on the Lizard, also known as Church Cove for the tiny medieval church half-buried in the dunes above the beach — National Trust-managed, popular but usually quieter than the Lizard's bigger beaches.

Hazards: Occasional strong currents around the rocks at either end of the cove; no on-beach facilities so plan for tides and weather.

Family

Sheltered sandy cove good for families, with the historic church and National Trust car park close by, though facilities on the beach itself are minimal.

Fishing

Dollar Cove is a mixed sand, boulder and kelp mark for bass, wrasse, pollack, dogfish and summer pelagics. A flooding tide into dusk is favoured; rotten-bottom tackle is appropriate over the rough ground.

Crabbing

not recommended — The rough, swell-exposed ledges are unsuitable for promoted family crabbing.
