Tactics

Fish two-and-a-half hours either side of high water. Head for the huts on stilts by the golf course, or the stretch between the golf club and Burnt House groyne towards Walton, for the most consistent sport. Lug tipped with fish or squid takes the bigger winter whiting; ragworm and lug both take soles in summer — watch for grippy clay under the sand on the bigger low tides.

Best tide: 2.5 hours either side of high water · Best time: After dark in summer; the ebb tide for winter codling and whiting

Dogs

Tendring District Council bans dogs 1 May–30 September on a defined 'dog free' stretch of Frinton beach — four sections right of the boat ramp at the bottom of Connaught Avenue, running to the first toilet block near the Cambridge/Raglan Road footpath. The seafront promenade stays open to leaded dogs year-round, and the wider beach is open outside those dates.

Access & parking

Park along The Esplanade or nearby residential streets; a short walk to the beach huts. Sat-nav: CO13 9DN.Get directions → Family rating: ★★☆ — A quiet, traditional resort beach with huts and a golf-course backdrop — easy walking, but check the tide before wandering out onto the flats.
