Fishing at Frinton-on-Sea
A quiet, traditional Essex resort beach — the huts on stilts by the golf course are the standout local mark, with codling and whiting in winter and sole and bass through summer.

| Species | Season | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Codling | Oct–Feb | Lugworm fished on the ebb tide |
| Whiting | Oct–Feb | Lug tipped with fish or squid |
| Sole | Jun–Sep | Lugworm or ragworm on a two-hook flapper |
| Bass | May–Sep | Fished after dark once the beach empties for the day |
Tactics
Fish two-and-a-half hours either side of high water. Head for the huts on stilts by the golf course, or the stretch between the golf club and Burnt House groyne towards Walton, for the most consistent sport. Lug tipped with fish or squid takes the bigger winter whiting; ragworm and lug both take soles in summer — watch for grippy clay under the sand on the bigger low tides.
Best tide: 2.5 hours either side of high water · Best time: After dark in summer; the ebb tide for winter codling and whiting
