Long sand-and-shingle beach in south-east Cornwall between Looe and Seaton, backed by the village and rocky ground toward Battern Cliffs.

Long, quiet beach, less crowded than Looe or Seaton, good rockpooling toward the eastern end at low tide.

Fishing

Downderry is a long mixed sand-and-shingle mark. Bass work surf and rocky edges, while whiting, dogfish, sole and flatfish are possible over cleaner ground, especially after dark. Pollack and summer pelagics belong to the rougher margins in settled conditions.
