Family

Established access and visitor facilities where available, but tide, current, cliff and live water-quality warnings still require checking.

Fishing

The south-west Island coastline has established bass, smoothhound and ray fisheries at Brook, Atherfield and Chale, but no adequately corroborated exact source was found for species, tactics and safe fishing stages at the Compton Bay inventory coordinates. Do not copy neighbouring Brook or Atherfield claims into this page.

Crabbing

rock pooling only — National Trust runs guided rock-pool safaris documenting crabs and other intertidal wildlife. This supports responsible rock pooling, not generic line crabbing. Follow fossil, cliff and wildlife guidance and replace rocks exactly as found.

Access & parking

Use established signed beach, promenade, country-park or harbour access; check tides and temporary closures.
