Wide at low tide with gently shelving, shallow water and rock pools for children, though the steep path down from the car park is a downside, and there are no toilets at Bovisand itself (only at neighbouring Crownhill Bay).

Clean sand and rocky edges support bass, mackerel, garfish, scad, flatfish, dogfish, occasional rays, wrasse and pollack.
