Dogs

Secondary local-news reporting on East Devon District Council's seasonal dog restrictions (sourced from a council press release) states Beer beach is split into two zones: the eastern half allows dogs year-round, while the western half excludes dogs from 1 May to 30 September under East Devon's PSPO. Direct fetch of the council's own beach page and press-release page both failed (403/connection blocked), so this is reported via secondary news coverage rather than a directly verified council document.

Family

Charming village beach with rock pools and boat-launching activity to watch, but it's shingle underfoot rather than sand, and can get busy with day-trippers.

Fishing

The steep shingle centre reaches useful depth quickly and provides cleaner ground for bass, dogfish, whiting and pouting. Rocky margins add pollack, wrasse and summer mackerel or garfish. Fish around working boats and avoid the cliff base.

Species reported: Bass, Pollack and ballan wrasse, Mackerel and garfish, Pouting, whiting and dogfish

Access & parking

Level beach access from the village seafront car park. Sat-nav: EX12 3EQ. Get directions →
