Bantham

A large, privately-managed sandy surf beach at the mouth of the River Avon, Environment Agency-classified Excellent, well known locally as a strong bass mark as well as a family/surf beach.

Big sandy beach with shallow, calm areas near the estuary safe for younger kids, plus lifeguards and food vans in season — though the car park closes at 9pm and charges apply.

Fishing

Bantham is a surf and estuary-mouth fishery. Bass dominate the beach and channel edges; flounder and mullet use the estuary; summer smoothhound, dogfish, sole, whiting, mackerel and garfish add variety. Flooding tide and first ebb are key windows.
