A sand-and-shingle beach beneath Babbacombe Downs, reached by the Victorian cliff railway, Environment Agency-classified Excellent and one of Torbay's year-round dog-friendly beaches.

Family

The cliff railway makes access easy for families with buggies/less mobile visitors, and there's a cafe, toilets and deckchair hire on the beach itself.

Fishing

The small pier gives sheltered, close-range access to mixed sand, shingle and weed. The beach and rocky margins add bass and rough-ground options, but the pier is the clearest family-accessible fishing zone. Mid-flood to high water and dawn, dusk or darkness are the most useful general windows.

Crabbing

possible with supervision — The pier is used by crabbers, but no authority welfare or edge-safety guidance was found. Do not promote the open beach as a generic crabbing venue.
